Residential locksmith FAQ
What is re-keying?
When you want to change your key combination without the need to replace the whole lock, it’s called re-keying. When a locksmith technician arrives to your asset and instead of drilling the lock or replacing the old one with a new lock or brand, you should ask him if there is a possibility to re-key the lock. This process is way cheaper than any other option.
I am moving into a new house should I change my locks?
You don’t have to… but it’s a quite big risk to take! Your loving ones and belonging should feel safe in your new house. I probably don’t know the previous residents, whom they were been with, or if they were criminals or honest people. This is why you should definitely change locks when moving to a new house. At least you should re-key all of your locks, front and back.
What is the most secure lock for my home?
There are many good locks for home. Most of them are grade 2 (grade 1 usually goes for commercial, and grade 3 is poor quality). Among the best locks for a home there is the Mul-T-Lock and the Medeco, both have pick proof mechanism, so it won’t be easy to break into your house.
